Say yes to your dreams

At the beginning of the year I moved to Truckee CA. It has been a dream of mine to live in a mountain town and be close to all of my favorite trails to run on. I had lived in Sacramento for 20 years and it had offered me college degrees, steady jobs, friends, partners, beautiful river trails, and hot hot summers. I had been too scared for years to move. I don’t like to move. I love to live somewhere and grow my roots. And as a single woman with 4 fur children (a dog and 3 cats) I was not sure how I could afford to move to my dream mountain town. And then how do I move and not stress out my fur children. Some people laughed when I told them I was scared to move. Moving was out of my comfort zone. I put off moving for years. I dreamed of living in Truckee. I wrote about moving there in my journals for years. Fear kept stopping me from following my heart and living in my dream location. I have accomplished so many things in my life. But moving sounded like the biggest road block. Moving sounded so scary to me.

Last November I finally decided to make this dream come true for myself. I was scared that I was going to loose my job stability. I was scared that it would not work. I was scared that I was making the wrong decision. But I took that first step. And everything lined up. It all worked out. All I had to do was say yes and take the first step, then the next, and the next. This big move reminded me of running. We just take that first step, then the next, and pretty soon we have finished that race we never thought we could run. One foot in front of the other.

Dream those big beautiful dreams of yours. Sign up for that race you are too scared to do. Run your first mile. Run your first 50 miles. You can do it! Just keep taking that first step, then the next, and the next, and watch yourself start living your dreams!

As I settle into my new home town I will not be accepting any new running clients until spring. I have a great group of runners right now that are keeping me busy. Moving was a big change for me, so I am taking some time to myself this winter to enjoy my transition to mountain living in Truckee. And some time to explore the beautiful snowy trails. Stay tuned for some new workshops I will be offering on Trail Mountain Running. Thanks for following along on my coaching journey!

Happy Running!
